Abstract

In the underground (subway), there are rules that regulate the behavior of people to create a good citizen coexistence. The rules of coexistence and security allow a balance between the control of people's behavior and respect for the freedom of passengers. The transgression of norms creates discomfort and hinders social dynamics. The objective of this work is to investigate the perception of normative (non)compliance and the discomfort generated by the transgression in the subway of Buenos Aires. A self-administered questionnaire was designed. it was applied to 407 passengers. The results indicate that the perception of normative transgression is high, as well the levels of discomfort experienced by the participants due to the normative transgression. The non-compliance with the norms would not be associated with a low legitimacy but with a difficulty in its applicability, and with patterns of transgressive behaviors that are habitualized and shared.
