Abstract

This article analyzes urban inequality through the lens of public space access, constructing a relational narrative using cartographic and quantitative analysis of various socio-spatial layers. For this purpose, the Constitutional Province of Callao is taken as a case study, examining the distribution, quality, and territorial coverage of its public spaces. Next, the square meters of public space that is accessible to inhabitants within fifteen minutes on foot from their homes are calculated. The resulting information is correlated with other variables such as urban evolution, habitat consolidation level, socioeconomic strata location, and public space quality. Among the findings, three types of inequality related to public space access are characterized. Additionally, it is evident that the most vulnerable populations face inequalities in the quality of available spaces, intensifying the overlapping of asymmetries and the concentration of territorial inequities.
